Satisfaction

Satisfaction - a poem by Hazel Goss
Poise the spade,
Pierce the ground,
Push it down.
Pull and lift,
Turn the soil,
Break the clods.
Rake it neat
Keep the beat.
Scoop a trench,
Check it’s straight.
Place the beans,
Two by two,
Water in,
Fill and tamp.
Smell the earth,
Rich and damp.
Weary now,
Pause and lean,
Hear the birds,
Buzz of bees.
Feel the sun
Gentle breeze.
At leisure,
My pleasure.
