Sanctuary - a poem by Hazel Goss
This poem was inspired by the phrase
‘peace comes dropping slow’ from ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’
by W.B.Yeats
A weeping willow hangs low,
green umbrella of fronds.
Inside I stand alone,
enveloped, quiet, safe.
Shaded from the sun’s glow
A soft breeze rustles through.
My shoulders stiff as stone
I breathe deeply and sigh.
Peace comes dropping, slow.
Soothing life’s heavy weight,
For here I find solace.
Seeping warm through my soul.
My frail body below
This stately, ancient tree,
That calms the troubled mind
And sets my spirit free.
